JOURNEY: The dark consumes the light, while the light reveals the dark…or is it the other way around? This fragrance begins with a sunny, blood orange citrus grove. Slowly, the sun begins to fade beneath a black wood, masking the bright grove in dense shadow. Within this shadow grows the vetiver and patchouli, unbridled in this new land. The conflict of light vs. dark is what this perfume is all about.

INSPIRATION: "This perfume began when I saw an image of a solar eclipse from a few years back. I started to imagine what would a solar eclipse smell like in a perfume, realising quickly that it needed a concept like 'where is the eclipse taking place?' I decided to create the smell of a solar eclipse over a blood orange citrus grove, the sun shrouded by a sphere of blackwood. I imagined tea leaves blowing through like tumbleweeds, and once the eclipse was in full, vetiver and patchouli plants shooting up out of the dark ground. The concept of a dark, woody, blood orange perfume with hints of herbal tea just sounded amazing. The opening of this perfume is an absolute favorite of mine and I am sure it will be a favourite of yours."

Each cruelty-free fragrance from For the Scent of It is crafted by hand with care using only responsibly sourced materials. Every fragrance is created from scratch one material at a time and each is diluted to high “Eau de Parfum” strength. There are no phthalates, parabens, dyes, and ABSOLUTELY NO pre-made, inexpensive “fragrance oils”. Each bottle is filled by hand in small batches making each bottle feel uniquely special during the process. Each bottle is shipped in eco-friendly packaging that can be reused or recycled. So often a perfume is purchased and the box just sits there or gets thrown out. We believe a perfume shouldn’t be regarded necessarily for extravagant packaging and should be enjoyed simply “For the Scent of It”!

Sleeper hit of the House

This is an amazing year-round scent. This house gets a lot of well-deserved hype for hits like Molten Ambre, Eastern Sea Moss, and Wasteland Warrior, all of which are excellent, but you should not be sleeping on Blackwood Sun. It's such a unique fragrance. It has a bright citrus opening against a heart and base of tea, ebony wood, vetiver, and patchouli. Most say that the blood orange steals the show, but on me the tea really takes center stage as the main star of the fragrance. I get this wonderful, semi-sweet air of black tea surrounding me all day. The vetiver and woods give it structure and support for sure, but it's the essence of tea that really stands out. It has this unexplainable freshness to it as well, not like a shower gel or blue type freshness, but more like the freshness of a cool breeze. Blend that freshness with the tea note and you have one of the most interesting scents on the indie fragrance scene. It's complex but easy going so it can be worn any time. This has become a smash hit at my office. I've even had people ask me to wear it on several occasions Absolutely amazing scent and one of the most underrated of the house for sure.

I have about 200 bottles and gone through maybe twice as many throughout my lifetime. Very few wow meand this is one of them. I got this as a sample after purchasing a recommended fragrance (which was nice but not my favorite) this is on another level. Mature and sophisticated but also light and perfect for almost every occasion. Versatile and very high quality.

These scents are sooo good! My advice is to start with the trial sizes to smell which one works best with your chemistry.
